What exactly is sonntagsschuss?

'Sonntagsschuss' is a word used in German football to describe a beautiful, crazy goal - usually scored from a great distance or unfavorable position with the help of a lot of luck. It’s the result of a chance most wouldn’t dare to take and literally translates as “Sunday shot”.

It’s the kind of shot we should be taking more in real life, away from a football pitch.

We’ve all found ourselves stuck in holding patterns at some point - waiting for the perfect conditions, the ideal budget, or for someone else to open the right door before taking action and going after what we want to achieve. Sometimes it’s important to stop waiting on what might never arrive and just shoot your shot anyway.
