Below are some prompts and exercises to help you build courage when you're afraid you're not ready.
Review
What specifically makes you feel like you're not ready yet? Is it your skills, experience, knowledge, confidence, resources, or something else?
What do you believe you need to be, know, or have before you can consider yourself ready? Who decided that was the threshold?
What part of yourself do you most often doubt? What tends to trigger that doubt?
Think about a time when you surprised yourself by being more capable than you expected. What did that experience teach you about yourself?
If there were no consequences, what would you try?
Practice
Believe the Hype: write down all of your best qualities. Your skills, talents, experiences, quirks, weird knowledge, accomplishments, interests. If it helps, think about it from the perspective of what your mom or a friend would say.
Rehearsal: pretend you're already doing the thing. Give yourself 15 minutes to consider this is your normal job/project/life. List out everything about it. What do your days look like? What kind of conversations are you having? What rooms are you entering and who are you spending time with?
Close the Gap: make a list of the reasons you don’t feel ready yet.
For each reason, list 2-3 things you can do today to get you a little closer to where you want to be.
