Below are some prompts and exercises to help you find collaborators.

Review

What are you trying to make that you genuinely can't (or don't want to) make alone? Be specific about the gaps.

What kind of person would make this project more interesting? Think beyond job titles or skills. What perspective, personality, taste, experience, or way of thinking are you missing?

What do you bring to the table? What skills, knowledge, connections, resources, or energy would make someone want to collaborate with you?

What would a great collaboration actually look like? What would each of you contribute, and what would you create together that neither of you would have made alone?

Who do you already know who could be a great collaborator? Think beyond your immediate circle. Who have you worked with, met, followed, admired, or crossed paths with who might be interested in what you're building?

Practice

Dream Team: build your fantasy team for your project. Pick 3–5 people you’d love to have involved. They can be people you know, people you admire, or even completely unrealistic choices. What would each person bring to the project? What would you make together?

Job Description: pretend you’re posting an advertisement for the role of your ideal collaborator on a job board. What qualifications and skills should they have? What does the role look like? What are you offering?

Get in the Room: find a networking event, meetup, workshop, or industry gathering where you’re likely to encounter people with skills or interests relevant to your project. Go with the goal of having at least three conversations with people you could imagine collaborating with.
