Below are some prompts and exercises to help you build self-confidence when you're feeling stuck.

Review

When do you find it hardest to trust yourself? Is it making when decisions, judging your own work, knowing what you want, taking risks, or something else?

What makes you doubt your own judgment? Is it past experiences, other people's opinions, lack of experience, perfectionism, fear of making the wrong choice, or something else?

How do you normally make important decisions? How much do you rely on your own instincts versus research, advice, reassurance, or other people's opinions?

Who's the most confident person you know? What about them makes them seem so confident to you?

What’s the scariest thing you’ve ever done? How did you feel in the moment? How did you feel afterward? Did it teach you anything about yourself? And what’s something scary you could take action on today?

Practice

Mystery Box: write down 5-7 difficult or scary things you’e been avoiding doing on separate pieces of paper, then put them in a box.

Draw one at random, that’s the one you have to go do today.

Receipts: Make a list of 5–7 times you’ve done something difficult, scary, or outside your comfort zone. For each one, write down what you were afraid of, what you actually did, and what happened. Keep the list as evidence that you’re more capable than your doubts give you credit for.

Put on Someone Else’s Shoes: Make a list of 3–4 people you know who are wildly different from each other. Choose something you’re currently facing that you don’t feel confident handling. Imagine each of them are facing it instead. What would each person do? How would their skills and personalities influence the outcome?
